the ads by some PAC I'm not familiar with (and that was apparently created just for the purpose of defeating Omar) were so over-the-top and borderline defamatory that they put me off her opponent, obviously the opposite of what the ads intended. Antone seems to be a competent, qualified candidate who would be a good Congressman, but I also got to thinking about the fact that Omar has now been in Congress for a term and knows the ropes. She is the DFL-endorsed candidate. Most importantly, as far as I'm concerned, is the fact that Nancy Pelosi is supporting her. So despite my misgivings, and hoping Omar will have learned how to avoid unnecessarily making herself controversial and won't be doing any more dumb and offensive things like refusing to support the resolution about the Armenian genocide, I voted for her on my absentee ballot, which I sent in last week. I'm giving her one more chance to grow up, stop showboating and represent her district.

Anyone else, not affiliated with the hard left would be crucified here.

And, yes, I am one of the "outsiders" who donated Antone. All $50.

I'm not really OK with it, and I'm not at all "hard left," but if Pelosi and the DFL endorsed her I can live with her. I'd have been happy to vote for any of the candidates but the nasty ads and Pelosi's support tilted me toward her just enough. I hope she will be a better representative this term.

Has the DFL?

As for DFL endorsements, I was really glad that both Dayton and Walz by-passed the endorsements.

And whether paying her husband is actually true, from their debate last week

“I don’t pay my husband. I pay the firm to do work,” Omar said. Most of the $600,000 directed to the firm since July 1 went directly to other vendors for TV commercials and campaign literature, she said.

Really?

It was not illegal for her to hire her husband's company, though that sort of thing probably should be - but obviously she didn't see that it looks stinky and shouldn't have been done. She needs to get smarter about how politics works or get better advisers. Still, those endorsements are worth something. I almost voted for the other guy (and might have gone with John Mason, too), except for the fact that party support is valuable, and the PAC ads opposing her were really offensive. I did not learn enough about Antone himself to overcome the ickiness of the ads and Pelosi's support for Omar.

I think I would have voted for John Mason. More progressive than Antone and hopefully more sense than Ilhan. It's a pity he didn't have enough money to run a TV campaign to get his name out there.

I can give Omar another chance if Pelosi is OK with her, but I hope she gets a little more savvy about politics and a little less inclined to show off.

I actually liked John Mason better, but he didn't seem to have much support anywhere. I still have misgivings about Omar so I hope she gets better at politics.

Her reason for doing that was that she didn't think enough attention was being paid to other alleged genocide (e.g., Palestine), but it was a really dumb reason. It was like refusing to contribute to lung cancer research because what about brain cancer?
