Minnesota, Uggh 7 day average of daily new cases up 36% since June 19 low point

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/minnesota-coronavirus-cases.html

Based on expanding its size and do tracing paper tick-mark measurements (I could have also spreadsheeted the daily numbers for a few weeks and then put in the appropriate formulas). Includes the July 3 number.

It's still way down from the late May peak.

Anyway, there's been quite an uptick for the past 2 weeks (On July 4, June 19 was 15 days ago).

Stay safe. Seeing these numbers, I've decided against an activity that I was on the verge of going ahead with.

====================================================

The below has daily new cases according to the date the specimen was collected, so the last several days are low as they caution, as e.g. all specimens collected in the last 7 or so days have not been tested and reported. But its good for other data like deaths, hospitalizations, and ICU.

globalepidemics.org - https://globalepidemics.org/key-metrics-for-covid-suppression/ Green, yellow, orange or red? This new tool shows COVID-19 risk in your county (on a new cases per 100,000 basis, rolling 7-day average), 7/1/20

Uggh, around 1 am on 7/2 I wrote down: Minnesota: 6.7 cases per 100k, Hennepin: 8.3 cases per 100k

  Just now 1040 am on 7/4: Minnesota: 7.8 {1} cases per 100k, Hennepin: 9.8 cases per 100k

These are rolling 7 day averages.

{1} Edited Minnesota from 8.0 to 7.8 cases per 100k because I noticed at the far right when Minnesota is selected, it says 7.8. I got the previous "8.0" from hovering over the Minnesota map when "states" is selected and "Minnesota" is selected. It said "8". Knowing that they list the numbers, including state numbers to 1-place-to-the-right-of-the-decimal point from previous notes, I inferred that "8" meant "8.0" but apparently not. Sigh. Life sucks and then you die. "Fool me once shame on you, fool me -- umm -- err --- uh --- can't get fooled again."

I can't think of a dumber thing to do than hang out at a bar, unless it's go to a Trump rally.

So could be a sizable part of the uptick I noted for Hennepin on https://globalepidemics.org/key-metrics-for-covid-suppression/
from 8.3 cases per 100k at 1am 7/2 to 9.8 cases per 100k at 1040am on 7/4.

Mankato is in Blue Earth County, which on the website is bright red at a very scary 34.0 cases per 100k.

I don't know what else is going on in Blue Earth County (any meat processing?). Or maybe the problem is there's nothing going on, ever, and that's why they're all at the bars.

All numbers 7 day rolling averages of daily new cases per 100k.

But,as one goes south of Mankato on Hwy 60 towards Worthington, well, almost every town has a Food Processing Plant .

As per our Son,the Mankato out break was the direct result of Bars being opened up. Understand one Bar in Particular, which is a College Student hang out was the main Spreader. First night that bar was open,it was jam packed with zero masks being used.

His Store was alerted as to what was happening,as they close at Midnight,so as all the employees were masked up just in case. The Bar mentioned is in close proximity to his store. One of his co workers happened to join the that Bar opening Drunk a ton after his 9 pm shift ended and is now in the Mankato Hospital with Covid. Every Employee in his Store is Tested at least once a day and the Store was closed for one day for a special Cleaning Crew to Sanitize it from top to bottom. As of yesterday, two more Employees are on Home Quarantine.

Malcolm said Monday there are likely more than 200 positive cases in Mankato and at least 100 in Minneapolis tied to bar-hopping outbreaks, an increase from past estimates.

All those sickened were in their 20s and had gone to the Mankato bars Rounders and The 507, or Minneapolis bars Cowboy Jack’s [downtown Mpls] and Kollege Klub [Dinkytown].

I read COVID cases rising.

Makes me wonder if there will be a Renaissance Festival this year. If so, as much as I love being there, it will not be happening this year.
