The bill passed and Beshear did not veto it so I guess as soon as the federal government lifts it's ban on industrial hemp then farmers can start growing it. Seems like much ado about nothing since it's still not legal under federal law.

Even though hemp and marijuana are not the same thing, law enforcement keeps saying it will be a problem. I'm not sure of their motivation but they are mostly the ones that have been vocal against hemp. Maybe they think it will be hard to tell them apart?

I do think the timber and cotton industries oppose hemp on the national level, but I haven't heard any opposition from those groups in Kentucky. Cotton is not a Kentucky crop.
