The Republican legislator announced her intentions in a Facebook posting Tuesday evening. In her post, Ernst states that she's humbled by those who have asked to consider "this great opportunity." Ernst has served 21 years in the Iowa Army National Guard, and spent 14 months in Kuwait as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003-2004. Ernst served as Montgomery County auditor until January, 2011, when she won a special election to fill a State Senate seat vacated by Kim Reynolds, who became Iowa's lieutenant governor. Ernst was unchallenged for reelection last November in Iowa's 12th State Senate District, covering Page, Fremont, Mills, Montgomery, Ringgold and Taylor.
Ernst's posting comes after Reynolds announced Tuesday that she would not seek the U-S Senate seat vacated by Democrat Tom Harkin's retirement in 2014. Calls to Ernst Wednesday morning have not been returned.

Mary Poppins would say "Practically Perfect Puppet in Every Way" One of the highest poverty rate senate districts and votes against Medicaid expansion because they won't have any responsibility for their own health care. Koch brothers must have a bet to find the most obscure candidate to shove in Americas face. She has a nice smile and no DWI's.
