(23,628 posts)but a meme was floating around a week or so ago, that suggested they keep the name, and replace the mascot with that sweet little red spud ..
i mean it could work, veg team mascots..

(25,849 posts)I hadn't seen that before. It is rather adorable. Alas, keeping "Redskins" an replacing with the potato just won't remove the unpleasant connotations of the name.
But the Washington Azaleas, or Cherry Blossoms, or Carrots, or, wait! I've got it! The Washington Sweet Potatoes!
