49ers pay Santa Clara $5.5 million in owed rent for Levi's Stadium
After being accused of shortchanging the city of Santa Clara, the San Francisco 49ers this week paid the city more than $5 million for two months worth of rent for using Levis Stadium.
The citys stadium authority received $5,502,333 in overdue September rent and October rent thats due, according to a city press release.
The flap over pay was just the latest of many that have broken out the past few years between the city and football team over everything from money to curfews to parking to stadium management.
The citys stadium authority board comprised of Mayor Lisa Gillmor and the City Council unanimously approved filing an arbitration claim last week in a bid to get the payment.
