Letter: Garcia's silence is deafening (CA-25 - Rep. Mike Garcia)

Dear Rep. Mike Garcia,

We respectfully ask a question of you and would appreciate an answer, preferably one that isn’t a boiler-plate response that doesn’t address our concern. We are the children of fathers who served honorably in the military and parents of two sons who also served honorably in the military. Our oldest son received a medical discharge after being wounded. We can assure you with absolutely certainty that none of our loved ones who served are “losers” or “suckers.”

It is gut wrenching to hear over and over again the POTUS and Commander in Chief of the U.S. Military, Donald Trump, denigrate, insult and attack America’s service men and women and reportedly calling them “losers” and “suckers.” Additionally, it is beyond the pale that for the last four years Trump hasn’t supported our troops, nor Gold Star and Blue Star families, and going so far as to defend Russia putting bounties on American military personnel.

Our question to you is: what and where is your response? You’re a member of Congress, you should have denounced these attacks on our military personnel immediately on taking office and hearing Trump’s attacks. I don’t care what political party you belong to, this is not about politics, this is about supporting a sacred institution of America’s democracy. Yet we have heard nothing from you — crickets. How can this be? At what point is low enough for you to speak up for what is right? Is there a point that would ever be low enough for you?

Again, we ask respectfully as we cannot accept that our representative, the person elected to represent our best interests in Congress, has not come out and denounced Trump’s attacks on America’s military. Your continued silence condones Trump’s attacks and is an abdication of your oath of office. - Ventura County Star

Nicely worded and succinct.
