Arkansas virus case count rises by 239

Arkansas' count of coronavirus cases rose by more than 200 on Friday for the second straight day and the number of patients hospitalized with the virus reached a new high.

The state's number of deaths increased by seven, one of the largest one-day increases, bringing its death toll from covid-19 to 132.

The state's tally of cases rose by 239, to 6,777.

The 239 new cases was the second-highest one-day increase outside of spikes associated with prison outbreaks. Just two of the cases were inmates whose positive test results were announced earlier but not added to the statewide total until Friday.

Arkansas has not been hit as hard by this pandemic as most places in the US and many around here think it's been blown out of proportion.

I fear that we are starting to catch up with the rest of the nation.

and we have 3 Tyson plants in the area but they are not releasing their numbers.

2. We have had 29 cases reported in Sebastian County.

Two of my son's live in NWA. They are taking precautions, but I still worry.

of course, the tourists are not. I won't go to town at all now.
