The recent rains have really helped Texas' second growing season. My passion flower is blooming and there are dozens and dozens of buds promising quite a show over the next week or so.
I finally got some company at the Morning Glory!

(86,515 posts)I photograph lots of flowers and the passion flower is otherworldly!
I bet it has an interesting smell.

Just counted the buds and there are more than 3 dozen in waiting!

============================
The Passion Flower symbolism, as originally perceived, and then augmented, includes:
The spiraled tendrils - the lash of Christ's scourging
The central flower column - the pillar of the Scourging
The 72 radial filaments - the Crown of Thorns
The top 3 stigma - the 3 Nails
The lower 5 anthers - the 5 wounds
The Style - the Sponge used to moisten Christ's Lips with Vinegar
The leaves (some species) - the head of the Centurion's Spear
The red stains - Christ's Blood Drops
The Round Fruit - The World Christ came to save
The Fragrance - The Spices prepared by the Holy Women
============================
I can't discern a scent.
The leaves can be dried and used for tea to calm the nerves or smoked for the same effect.

(14,559 posts)was bare earth covered in year's of leaves. I'm making some progress but the deer are a challenge! What they don't eat they pull up and spit out. But they too are beautiful.

(14,559 posts)Like I said, Texas has two growing seasons. March thu May and then Summer sets in with drought and heat from June to August when we struggle to keep landscaping alive followed by what we call fall, September thru November. I've got another couple of months and then Deer season starts in earnest.
