One thing I miss about NJ is

Hosta ... it is just too hot to grow here in Fl.
There is something about them. Growing in the shade, in the middle of a hot humid summer day. They gave me a sense of coolness. Lushness ... is that even a word?? Lushness?!
Here is just one frame of these lovely plants presented in glorious, full color and in grayscale.

My yard is very shady and practically nothing else decorative will survive here. I must have at least 5 different varieties of Hostas in my yard. A few of them produce flowers that smell really nice.

I didn’t realize Florida was too hot for them. Too bad! I agree, they are cool and lush-looking.

Here is one of mine.

Apparently there are some that will grow but in zone 9 and 10 but they are not readily available.

Cool and green in color and undulating wave shapes in B&W. I can't grow hostas either. Their alternate name is 'deer candy'.

The thing I miss most (I was stationed at Ft. Monmouth for two years beginning in 1970) is the Sub sandwiches from "The Space Station" in Red Bank (or Eatontown) can't remember for sure which, but it was only a couple blocks from Fort's front gate.

Speaking of Red Bank ... my wife used to bank at the Long Branch branch of the Red Bank bank ... go figure!

Guess it was Eatontown....The Space Station is now, Guido's Pizza . Never tried pork rolls, but they sound great.
