Would he have embraced digital photography and Photoshop, in an 83 interview the answer would appear to be yes.
"Playboy: What else do you see coming in photography?
Adams: Theres no end in sight. Electronic photography will soon be superior to anything we have now. The first advance will be the exploration of existing negatives. I believe the electronic processes will enhance them. I could get superior prints from my negatives using electronics. Then the time will come when you will be able to make the entire photograph electronically. With the extremely high resolution and the enormous control you can get from electronics, the results will be fantastic. I wish I were young again!"
The rest of the article is not only worth the read but should be required reading.

(1,576 posts)i spent many hours retouching dust spots on prints. retouching negatives was beyond my skills and finances (negative retouching machines were expensive)
since photoshop, i now scan old negatives and do corrections with ease

(4,737 posts)With B&W, digital is a poor approximation. There's nothing better than a 4x5 negative printed optically onto fiber-base paper. Oh, if only I had a few grand lying around..

(17,085 posts)I probably should have read the magazine back then...
And I actually only did read it for the articles, lol.
Side note: it's more than a little sad to see how far the quality of journalism has fallen in such a short time when you compare this article to what passes for journalism today.

The whole interview was full of them.
