This kind of takes me back to the days of my old Twin Lens Reflex, a Yashica D. It took 120 film, a 1:1 image aspect. That is the only camera I regret selling. I liked the images it produced.
We had heavy rain last night so I passed by McConnell Springs to check out the creek. The first image is smaller than the rest on purpose.

(4,483 posts)and the funny thing is that technology is pushing that ratio again considering that Instagram uses a square format and quite a few apps shoot in it.

(60,071 posts)instagram disease. For me it is a mix of nostalgia for my TLR and a challenge to see things in a different way.

(4,483 posts)I've shot my fair share of 120 in the past and I've always had a warm fuzzy feeling for it but now with new technology everything old is new again.
It's the upswing of square format in social media and mobile photography that moved a lot of camera manufactures to put a 1:1 setting on their cameras so you can have your nostalgic moment. Not only that but there has been renewed for shooting with 120 film, we have a store near NYU called Lomography that sells 120 film and the cameras to shoot with it so even if you aren't a fan of Instagram or Hipstamatic they played a roll in resurrecting 1:1.
