6. The kicker is that Kenny played Bill's mandolin parts on the fiddle

Adapting the music to make it work.

40 years later, Noam reworked the songs so that he could play Kenny's fiddle parts on the banjo.

Which is actually a very different piece of music than if he had just adapted Bill Monroe's mandolin part to the banjo.

8. Only thing I can add

is that Noam Pikelny is a heckuva name for a bluegrass musician! But I cut my teeth on bluegrass in Madison, WI, at a little place called Glen and Ann's....
