I got a camera lucida app to help me with my next painting. It's the one I am doing of

my neighbor’s late dog. They didn’t have many helpful pics, so I have to use some from Pinterest and fudge it.

so could somebody explain to me the difference between a camera lucida and a camera obscura? I think artists in the olden days used an obscura to help them, but what the hell do I know?
