It feels like an expert illustration in an early twentieth century book.

Did you draw this recently?

Right now I’m really stuck on a painting. I think it’s because of the pandemic. Inspiration is pretty secondary for me. But the need for reaching out to share something good about good things we do seems important.

I hadn’t ever seen that and it’s pretty old. I drew it 30 years ago.

It shows how important it is to get feedback. Thanks!

Want to see.

There was a very important era in my painting when I went full Abstract Expressionism which some people who didn’t paint wanted to figure out what it was supposed to be. For some reason they insisted on seeing an object in the paintings. They simply couldn’t understand what abstract art is. It was frustrating so I understand what you mean.

i bet that would work, too. i was a 'drawing on the right side of the brain' fan. actually heard the author speak at art school. truly fascinated w the human brain.

even tho my sculpture is far more literal, people still can only see through the lens they have. goes double for the big sister who was #2 when you are the family weirdo.
even the ones who can make the leap that it is about emotion and not matter seem to have their own dark lens that only sees the painful bits of the work. never catch the heart.

in your abstract art. Everyone reacts with what they know. Perhaps the ones who don’t see the heart simply don’t understand the nature of their path. They see pain as the end all with nothing on the other side of the human journey. Yet what they see is where they are in self discovery.

So count your abstract art as a success. In spite of your sister!

But now that I see what you mean I can imagine how nice it would look with light going through it. A few people in this thread pointed out the design element it has. I’m very happy that I posted it because now I see something totally new in it. Thanks!
