Mama lynx and 7 kittens visit Alaska photographers porch

http://nbc4i.com/2017/09/28/mama-lynx-and-7-kittens-visit-alaska-photographers-porch/

ANCHORAGE, AK (WCMH) — Tim Newton woke up to the sound of something running across his deck last week. He got up and peered out, catching a glimpse of what looked like a cat.

“I started to think nothing more of it,” he said to KTUU-TV. “But then I noticed it had really big feet and little tiny hairs on its ears. So I knew then it was probably a lynx kitten – not a full grown cat.”

Newton, a photographer, picked up his camera and started snapping away. At first, he only saw a few of the kittens on the porch. Mama and the rest were on the other side. You can see a number of photos on his Facebook page.

I wonder how Momma is able to feed and take care of so many.

They are gorgeous.

and long-legged, to the point of looking skinny, especially when they aren't wearing winter coats. They aren't stocky at all like bobcats.

I hope she and they are getting enough to eat. But they will fluff up quite a bit in winter.

It's one of the main physical differences between a lynx and a bobcat.

They need big feet to keep up with the hares in deep snow.

(Also in Colorado.) My neighbor even got a photograph of one a few years ago. They are VERY reclusive, so this kind of sighting is magical. They are such gorgeous creatures.

Those cute paws!! They must "grow into them" since Momma's do not look so oversized. Maybe they were looking for a handout? What do they eat, apart from snow hares?

Their poor mom has her hands....ahem...paws full! But looks like she is doing a good job with such healthy looking babies. Love those BIG paws. It won't be long until those paws come in handy!!

He looks a lot like them. Smart as he!!. He's 10 now, but whe he was younger he could jump over 6 feet high. Not very independent though, very clingy. Don't know what I would do without him.

Not good that they're on porches. Must be getting fed by humans. Not smart at all.
