Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated.

Rather, I have had to move from Philly to The-Middle-of-Nowhere, Kentucky, and have been offline for the past couple of months. After many alarums and excursions, my computer is now up and running and connected to the 'Net, so now you *will* have Malthaussen to kick around again. ***ouch, ouch***

...but it's hard to tell exactly where you are since all of KY is the "middle of nowhere".

Welcome to flyover country.

on private government planes nowadays, sporting Hermes scarves and Birkin bags, so it must be "the place to be." Was your "nowhere" destination in the path of totality?

better than the big city. At least you have internet.
When I bought my 40 acres 39 years ago, I had no neighbors for miles.
I had the only mailbox on my street. Now I have many neighbors and
an entire bank of mailboxes. Even so, I still have privacy.

... and, we have to do all our grocery shopping at Walmart, which aside from the hospital is the major employer around here.

And unexpectedly, the water is horrible. I just got over a bout of revenge from Mr Montezuma...

but is high in calcium and lime. For coffee that's fine because it's filtered.
But I try not to drink too much of it plain. I'm scared of kidney stones.
A whole house filter from the well would be great, but they're not cheap.
