Is this the worst Beach Boys song of all time?

In general, I agree with the assertion that the Beach Boys are America's Beatles. Unlike the Fab Four, however, the Beach Fellas occasionally launched a turkey. Such as the first track on this video:

I suppose it is useful as an historical document. We now know that the introduction of the "shift" in the early 60's made a strong impression on young American males. But seriously, "wearin' a shift and it turns me on?" I can't remember too many other masturbatory songs about clothing...

I'm not completely sure they were serious in this one. Although that's not really a criterion for "worst," I guess.

Gad, I never heard this one before. Thankfully.

But the Beatles were my Beatles. The BB's represented an old fading culture. I appreciate their better works more these days.

Runs a close second with the John Stamos remake of the Dennis Wilson track "Forever" (from Sunflower) that appeared on the final Beach Boys studio album Summer in Paradise (1992), also the last recorded Beach Boys work from Carl Wilson.

The album also included a whiny Mike Love remake of Sly & The Family Stone's "Hot Fun In The Summertime" and WAY TOO MANY other covers songs. It was a lazy, lifeless album, and I've always considered it their worst all around effort.

Seriously, you want the "worst of the Beach Boys," you'll find it right here. These boys went out with a whimper, not a bang.

The cover artwork is definitely better than any of the songs on that record. However, I do count "Lahaina Aloha" (By far the strongest track on Summer in Paradise, not that that's saying much) as one of my guilty pleasures.

P.S. Anyone here ever go on smileysmile.net?
