...but now that the warm weather is here to stay, I decided to stop being miserable, and get a jump start on the heat. My biggest surprise was that everything actually still works!

For one summer I lived in a house at the edge of the desert north of LA with two housemates who were too cheap to turn on the AC (it worked). Man, I hated those guys.

A cooler is a necessity out here. I fixed this one just in time....for a cooling-down period to hit soon! I'm curious, do you remember the name of the nearest town, where you stayed that summer?

I guess the closest "town" was Castaic, which isn't much of a town. Santa Clarita was almost as close, so that's where I did all of my shopping, etc. Weather can be funny around there (as I'm sure you know). Just going down into the valley was a drop of a few degrees, and LA proper was always much cooler. For a few months I lived in Green Valley, where the altitude makes a significant different, making everything cooler and generally much more pleasant.

...near Joshua Tree. It's high altitude, about 3200 feet. Surprisingly cold, for a desert, in the winters.
