I feel like crying. I so thought this country would always continue getting better and better. But after Nixon mucked everything up the Republicans figured out how to keep mucking up and not get caught, or to get away with it even when they did get caught.

I wouldn't give him much more than that though. I guess it's not his fault, but it was during his time that the show (and he started off with some really good episodes) went from being Doctor Who, to being The Romantic Adventures of Magic Wizard Man and His Sexy Lady Friend: Show for Children Adventure Hour.

The problem is, they were polluted by this stupid, melodramatic, romantic storyline that ran alongside them. There was good acting, good concepts for episodes, and good characters (Donna's grandfather was great), but it all had this veil of crap smeared over it.

Of course none of that compares to the cultural abortion that is/was Dr. River Song, the worst character not only in Doctor Who, not only in Sci-Fi, but in all fictional storytelling EVER. I had to stop watching the show because of her.

A large part of that is probably just that he was the first one I saw. I still remember watching Doctor Who for the first time on PBS when I was about 8 and it completely blowing my mind.

Having gotten back into the show as an adult (and now actively trying to like it but absolutely hating the pile of shit it's become), I think Doctors # 1, 3, 4, and 5 were the best.

I am still not crazy about Matt Smith's incarnation, but I find the show much more enjoyable since the Ponds have departed.

I always have a hard time adjusting to a new Doctor.

Although I personally liked Pertwee, his scripts were boring because he never went anywhere.

Never watched anything past Peter Davison. I've heard rumours of more recent episodes, but I've not felt the need to inquire more closely.

Seventeen some years and he's still going strong. Even if you didn't like the film, his books and audios are some of the best writing in modern Who! (Just look at all the things Moffat "based" off them.)

Big Finish is the only part of Who that still deserves to get my money.
