(19,089 posts)I finally found a refuge in DU from the pure idiocy of the general population ...
Now it's an imperfect idiocy I reside in ....

(34,131 posts)It was messages on the Democratic Forum on CompuServe that led me here.
sciforums - Barely there.
gaiaonline - Still around, I visit now and then. Too much graphics and slow load.

(66,294 posts)I have registered at several sites like Liberal Underground, and Democratic Warrior. But nothing compelled me to stay with either group. I keep coming back to DU.

(28,394 posts)CNN used to have a decent chatroom, long time ago. Yahoo Politics chatrooms. Buzzflash. Democrats.com. I don't remember how I ended up at DU. I think I was looking for anti-bush sites.
I spent a lot of time at Democracy For America chat and Wes Clark's chat in 1994.
Really loooong time ago... Delphi Forums. Anyone remember those?

(8,492 posts)Left DKos after I became increasingly agitated at rude and obnoxious assholes.
Left TPM when they updated their site and my computer almost had a meltdown trying to use it.
Found DU by accident right after I left TPM.

They USED to have the most incredible Photoshop contests, but either those masters moved on to
become professionals or they just got tired and moved along. The contests pale in comparison to
those old ones.

It's still kinda fun and smart-assed.

(3,502 posts)Spent more time on Arlo.net than anywhere else. That's where I made friends for life and IRL, too. I also used to hang out on web and internet related sites - Sitepoint forums and Emaildiscussions. For politics there was this horrible little messageboard connected with a portal I was using and I can't for the life of me remember what it was called. It was like Excite and Lycos but it was something else. That's where I first met rightwing talking points of the day.

(13,421 posts)I was at Salon's now defunct Tabletalk when they went "pay to post." I wandered for a short time then came here when I saw a link to one of the very early LBN threads. I registered and started posting here immediately.

I used to spend way too much time on Tabletalk, then went to spending way too much time here, and now I go back and forth between Facebook and DU.
