As in, I can see why they're called that. Breakfast today, however is

a Kaiser roll with butter and honey
a croissant (no butter needed)
4 raw oysters
a large cappuccino
a half bottle of champagne

This is the 'light' breakfast. The 'heavy' includes ham, cheese, and three soft boiled eggs. The Viennese like their breakfasts.

What are the natives eating?

I imagine the Viennese breakfast as coffee and a pastry, like a croissant or a danish. They would not have muffins or bread.
