The trolls are out in force today because of the abominable background check vote in the senate. Both posters have been PPRd... I think it's going to be a crazy day on DU.
Anyone else called to serve jury duty today?
Paulie
(8,462 posts)Thank you for your service.
Sekhmets Daughter
(7,515 posts)and frequently 2 in a day, but never 2 in such a short period of time.
I rather like jury duty... Some of it is highly entertaining!
hrmjustin
(71,265 posts)The jury kept it.
Sekhmets Daughter
(7,515 posts)The first of this morning was a 3-3 split, so the post stood.... Within a short period of time more alerts went out for other posts of
Jim.Rob58 and he was PPRd... I often wonder what the trolls hope to accomplish....
hrmjustin
(71,265 posts)like to make fun of them because they are pathetic. I saw the Jim guy. I also responded to another troll and he responded back but he was removed before i could read it. I would have loved to have read his response.
Sekhmets Daughter
(7,515 posts)So many issues for them to stir up.
I avoid trolls like the plague....they bring out a really nasty side to my disposition!

(7,515 posts)How's your mother today?
hrmjustin
(71,265 posts)She said she got plenty of sleep but still has a bit of pain. Thanks for asking!
Sekhmets Daughter
(7,515 posts)except for the pain, of course.
rurallib
(62,373 posts)almost forgot what to do.
Sekhmets Daughter
(7,515 posts)Unless, of course, you prefer it that way!
I am called almost every day, frequently twice a day... I think they need to reset random.... I know there really is no such thing as 'random'...but it can be tweaked, I believe.
rurallib
(62,373 posts)and will probably remain so for the next 6 months.
I may be on for 10 minutes and then go away for 3 or 4 hours.
So mostly it is because I am not here.
Had a long run before that though.
Sekhmets Daughter
(7,515 posts)You just made me wonder if my frequent calls are due to the fact that I never sign out... so it seems I'm here 24/7! Hmmmmm
rurallib
(62,373 posts)that has been laying around- but -
yesterday was basement flood day - that was no fun at all

(7,515 posts)I've had to deal with it myself...many years ago in NJ.
Hope everything was recoverable!

(28,394 posts)I weighed in on one of the phony "Jim Rob" alerts. I think he has since been tombstoned (?). I am half tempted to alert on someone, but the search feature seems to be down. I never alert, but this jackass is getting on my last nerve!
On edit: I just got a second summons, but on a totally different issue. LOL

It was 78 here by 7 am .... will hit 86 today. There was a lovely 15mph breeze coming from the SE so walking my dog was delightful!

edit to add - Somebody was trying to sell those bouncey castle things from the UK.
Sekhmets Daughter
(7,515 posts)from my cold, dead hands! I would have loved serving on that jury!
HappyMe
(20,277 posts)Once the pot roast raving started, we didn't wait around.
On a personal note - I'm a bit afraid of pressure cookers. There was a nasty incident when I was in high school.
Sekhmets Daughter
(7,515 posts)have been for over 40 years. (obviously several during that period) Never had any problem because they are well controlled.
When I was a kid, my mother put dinner on the kitchen ceiling one evening! The relief that no one was hurt... she was standing as far back as her arms would allow, and her head tipped even further back... sent all of us into fits of laughter! It did teach me to always allow the pressure to come down completely!
Xyzse
(8,217 posts)Or twice... Unsure.
Sekhmets Daughter
(7,515 posts)Did you serve on a jury but the poster was 'removed' before the jury could even act? That has happened to me twice lately!
I try to be a responsible juror, although some of the alerts make me crazy! Today's alerts were well deserved.

(47,534 posts)I don't get called but once every 2 or 3 weeks nowadays.
Sekhmets Daughter
(7,515 posts)Actually, I jest...I enjoy jury duty. Some of the posts are insanely outrageous, as are some of the alerts!
Iggo
(47,534 posts)I used to get called once or twice a day before my star expired. After that, it was a couple times a week. Lately though, it's more like once every two weeks.

nolabear
(41,930 posts)Oh well. Could be worse. I think...
Sekhmets Daughter

I do know there was a banner that popped up about volunteering in MIRT for April. Don't know if related.

Moondog
(4,833 posts)Lots of folks on edge today. This one could be traced fairly directly to the Boston drama, and indirectly to the fact that it continues to drag on.

AND - this IS a discussion board.
differences of opinions is what keeps this board alive.
I think a poster should not be reprimanded/posts hidden, etc., unless their behavior is excessively disruptive, not just hurt someone's feelings.
Just my observation.
