Particularly for works like O'Brien's that are so authentic.

But this is a very solid attempt... and I would love to see a sequel.

I'd love to see the Diana/Sophie story lines. Who to cast for those two though?

The key plot line is from much later in the series than the book "Master and Commander"

And the crew of the HMS Surprise were halfway around the world from Trafalgar in a time before the internet, TV, telephone and even the telegraph. A horse might have delivered the news to them, but only if it could gallop over water.

Not a continuity error. A recognition of the realities of communication specific to the time-period.

Even 21 years later, when John Adams died, his last words are reputed to have been "Jefferson still survives." Not knowing that Jefferson had died earlier that day.

This communication technology we're using right this very instant? Easy to take for granted.

"Master And Commander" is one of my favorite movies. I've seen in 24-25 times.

The film starts out "April 1805". Nelson died at Trafalgar 21 Oct 1805. Marine Captain Howard said of Nelson, "He's England's only hope ..." No continuity error.
