I'm thinking that since you say it was a German Shepard - looking like a standard K-9 - the police will be more than willing to give that guy some grief for leaving him in the car.

Did he have the AC running with the dog in the car? (probably not really - too many people think because the fan can still run, the AC compressor will remain on when the engine is turned off...)

How long did a-hole leave the dog in the car?

In my county here in North Georgia, animal cruelty reports are taken very seriously. I have made a few calls to them and they responded promptly.

They will respond, just as if there was a child locked in the car. For future reference, you might want to call your local shelter and ask them for the procedure.

Cops will break the window if necessary and possibly arrest the guy.

It's a difficult decision ... you don't if the owner is a vindictive psycho or has a shotgun in the trunk. He certainly had an attitude. I was going to go after him but my wife was scared shitless.

I put the county animal control number in my address book. I urge everyone who has a cell phone to do the same.

I'm going to add it this evening. With summer coming up it might come in handy.

I've called the police before, after people blew me off when I said something. You did the right thing, and
maybe saved a dog's life.

I'm sure the dog would thank you too!
