It's strange that they are attracted to black and white. I wonder if there's some kind of survival benefit that would cause that to evolve. I would think the mixture inside has more to do with attracting them.

The mosquitoes are already horrible and they're getting into the house through the holes in the screens. We closed up the house tonight and turned on the A/C not because it was too warm but because the mosquitoes and gnats were so annoying.

She used to be a teacher and had a nest outside her classroom window (no screens). She had a can of Aqua Net in her desk for the bees. It coats their wings in plastic and they die.

Eradicate the old nest, trim some bushes, relocate the garbage cans away from the house.

I like to avoid using any pesticide.

...mine is better and I made it myself.

My 30 year old son. If you stand next to him in a swarm of mosquitos you will never be bitten. The only downside is, you have to listen to his whining about all the damned mosquitos.

It's our job to give them constant reality checks. It's also our job to brainwash our DILs (according to my son).

...means not coming to his defense when she asks him to do something he doesn't want to do. Instead I tell him to get off his ass. It also supposedly means taking her shopping, teaching her to be independent, telling her I think it's a good idea that she has her own bank account, etc.

She's a wonderful wife and the best DIL I could have hoped for. And, he's actually an equally wonderful husband. Just a little lazy sometimes.

...she trusted you with him. Whenever my son asks for something I tell him, "Go ask your wife. She's responsible for you, now." She just looks at me with huge eyes and says, "NOOOOO!!! I need HELP!!!"
