Wegmans used to carry American grown edamame. Now it's imported from China. The edamame from Trader Joe's is from Thailand.
I thought that the U.S. was the biggest grower of soybeans in the world?

(51,122 posts)China is definitely the reddest flag, so to speak, but there are no regulations anywhere in Asia in practice.
We grow tons of soybeans here. Why can't I find American ones?

(20,176 posts)Soya is like a weed, it'll grow anywhere as long as it has sunlight and water. I used to grow it in a cardboard shoebox on my windowsill when I lived in Yonkers. At one point, I had it growing out the window 15 floors up (I yanked it daily to keep it from affixing the wall, I used to reel it in and harvest the pods then drop it back out the window) until the guy two floors down complained because it was growing in his window.
