Mix the sardines with mayo and garlic powder. Enjoy.

(4,833 posts)the corn chowder. I favor their NE clam chowder (yeah, I know, but it's OK) over corn anything.

But I lack the inclination, and the patience. My skills, as they say, lie elsewhere.

your penance is a sardine quesadilla
I have a sardine story that comes really close to that. One time my friend and I were tooling around in the Sierra Madres in this cool old purple hippie van (a 78 chevy and this was probably 2002 or around there ) I had a flat and couldn't get the damn jack to work - it had jammed. Finally this vaquero came by and tried to help rescue us and he couldn't get it to work either so I finally took a hammer to it and got it working, by then it was almost dark so we ended up staying with him and his brothers in this old Mormon ranch house - abandoned back during the revolution and now obtained by squatting basically by this guy's family.
Anyway no electricity and pretty ramshackle conditions - we had some cola, queso Menonita, and greasy paper bag of pan dulce to contribute to the evening meal. They had cold refried beans, corn tortillas and canned sardines. I am sorry, but sardines and refried beans are pretty gag-worthy but when in one of those situations of generosity and sharing of a meal you choke it down and be very careful about showing false enthusiasm lest you get offered seconds.
I can still see beans and sardine juice swirling around on my plate and feel the nausea. uuurrrkkkk
