Who should you have voted for last election?

I was bored so I decided to do something that I haven't done in several years, take the political compass test at http://www.politicalcompass.org just to see if my beliefs had changed since I've been out of the military for a few years and went back to school for a degree. I finished the test, compared it to the positions for the 2012 presidential candidates and was astonished the I had wound up just to right of Jil Stein, the Green party candidate. I've never considered their positions as being close to mine so it gave me something to think about.

Has anyone else ever taken this test and if so, which candidate did you wind up closest to?

I'm not saying that anyone should have changed their vote/voted for the wrong person, I wouldn't have changed my vote either, but it is interesting to see where you fall on the political spectrum.

This was just posted as fun and a chance to see where this quiz puts you on the political spectrum. You could be surprised to learn that you lean more or less left than you pictured yourself. This is not scientific in any way, nor am I advocating for anyone to switch parties based of the results of their test. I won't waste a vote on the national level, but on the local level, who knows? Where I currently live, Virginia, they don't list political affiliation for local races so if you vote for something like a city council member, you are doing it on how they stand on the issues and not what letter is after their name.

I never said you shouldn't have voted for the President, nor was I implying that you should have. My apologies if the meaning came across of the post came out the wrong way. This is why I posted this in the lounge, it is just a bit of fluff to be used as a distraction to pass away the time.

Well, maybe Virgil Goode, someone that far up in the nosebleed section scares me.

just trying to liven up the site as I try to keep myself from taking a road trip to Taco Bell (don't judge me! )

Edit:

On further reflection, it may be my position on the chart that is one of the reasons it took me five years to pass 100 posts on this site. I'm barely to the left of the dividing line and fear the some on this site might consider me "too moderate" for membership. I thought that things would have calmed down after the election and the victory of President Obama, but because of Newtown, the sequester, and chained CPI the anger just seems to keep increasing. If I hadn't been a lurker for so long I might not of posted as much as I have. Albeit a large number of my posts are snarky, my natural defense mechanism, but that doesn't mean I don't care for this place and its members.

"Not necessarily" or "It depends"

For example, the question about being offered work, but refusing it. What if the work were, say, extremely dangerous? Or was something like telemarketing? Or another type of job to which one was not particularly suited?

At any rate, I ended up being in almost the exact same spot as Ghandi on their little graph.

What also didn't surprise me was how close President Obama and Romney were.

Was Nader just 12 years ahead of his time?

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -5.88
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -3.49

Thing is, I could not vote for any sort of Independent for President, even if I am an Independent. I could for anything below that, but for the Presidency, I don't see myself having a choice.

Republicans have gone to the deep end, and I am not one for crazy.

My interests match the Justice Party.

I came out more or less near the Dalai Lama:

Economic Left/Right: -6.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.77

I didn't wade thru the explanations.
