Her passing today brings a bit of sadness to me. As a young kid in the sixties, I was into the Mickey Mouse Club---and especially into Annette Funicello.
I had a huge crush on her. SO---I consider one of my first crushes ever.
Who was yours?

(4,833 posts)I was young. And at that point in my life mostly into blondes and redheads. Later I moved on to brunettes. And back again. I've had periods where I favored specific colorations. Kind of like Picasso. Heh.
Now, well, a reasonably appealing woman of a certain age who has a sense of humor, who will put up with me, and whose kinks are more or less aligned with mine is . . . freakin' beautiful.

(21,925 posts)and I'm sad we lost her but I must admit that Cheryl ruled my little heart on the Mickey Mouse club.
My very first crush though was on the lovely lady in the old Flash Gordon serials from the 1930s which they aired on TV in the early 1950s when I was about three. Jean Rogers played Flash Gordons girlfriend Dale Arden. My parents bought me a set of Flash Gordon action figures and I loved handling the Dale Arden one. I would always get excited when I touched it and I didnt really understand why.

(9,888 posts)Randolph Mantooth, I'm with you. Followed by Michael Sarrazin (sp) when I got a little older. I obviously have a "type" and it hasn't changed much. Unfortunately there aren't many dark haired men at my age.
I'm still crushing on him 40 years later. He got better looking as he got older.

(620 posts)<snip>She returned to stage work and was "rediscovered" in a play in 1956, "Pipe Dream", which landed her on the cover of "Life" magazine. She made two films, the last as Elvis Presley's co-star, Jailhouse Rock (1957). Three weeks after shooting completed, she and her second husband were driving home from Los Angeles to New York when he swerved to avoid hitting a truck and collided with another vehicle; she was dead at the scene

(66,326 posts)I learned pretty early on that women were......different...
I never went through a 'girls: yuck!' stage like the other guys. I had 'em all to myself. The trouble was, this was when I was 8-12 or so, so having them all to myself wasn't all it was cracked up to be. By the time biology caught up, I started my 'awkward' phase, and girls didn't like me as much anymore...

(5,810 posts)I remember writing a fan letter and getting an "autographed" picture sent back to me. I almost swooned when I opened it. LOL
Later I stood in a very long line at an event sponsored by several companies for an open house in Jackson, MS for an all electric house. The celebrities were the Miss America at the time (I truly have forgotten which one) and Michael Landon. I got to shake his hand and was so shy and overwhelmed to actually get to meet him in person that I couldn't even look at him! We had waited in the hot sun for what seemed like hours and then when I had my big chance to see him was too shy to look him in the eyes. It was still great and we talked about that for days and days! That had to have been about 55 years ago and I still remember it!

(21,925 posts)in the 1960s I had a crush on Hayley Mills. She wasn't my first crush by any means but she was one of the big ones, especially after I saw her in the 1963 Disney movie Summer Magic. I was 13 that summer and after seeing her I wanted to run away to Hollywood to become an actor in the hopes of meeting her.
