Thing You Must Plant This Instant: Cucamelons

They're grape-sized watermelons that taste like cucumbers with a tinge of lime. And they're totally easy to grow.

They're native to Mexico and Central America. They also go by the following names: mouse melon, Mexican sour gherkin, Mexican miniature watermelon and Mexican sour cucumber.

Sounds perfect for summer smoothies but I wonder if they will grow in the pacific northwest. Gonna try it!

Edited: I just ordered some seeds and will cross my fingers on the germination since the reviews say there were some problems.

Do you have any idea how large the plants get? I couldn't tell from the web site. Also, do they give you the toots like normal cucumbers?

I thought they would taste like watermelons but a small version.

Somebody get to work on that stat! Mini melons. Not the so-called mini ones they have now that are still the size of a ... a ... geez, why isn't there a ball of the correct size I'm thinking of? Larger than a softball, smaller than a vollyball... what size is that? Anyway, grape-sized watermelons that taste like watermelon. Without seeds.
