Best Rock/Metal guitar solo?

I'm going to say the solo in Iron Maiden's "Trooper," but Slayer and Living Color and KISS and Priest and Metallica and Megadeth and so many others rank.

But I'll stick with The Trooper for now.

Killer solo...

Turn the volume down a bit

Okay, not electric guitar this time, but still classic.

Well, Technically it's 2 solos in one. From the Jason Becker/Marty Friendman album of the same name.

Can't get the link to post. Copy and paste it. It's worth it: ( Edit: fixed it )

I loved Marty's solo work in Megadeth's "Rust in Peace", he really blew me away on that album for some reason.

Last time I heard Cacophony, it was on an LP. Thanks for the memory!!!!

Cream - "Spoonful" ('Wheels of Fire' version)
The Who - "See Me, Feel Me" ('Isle of Wight' version - maybe not a solo technically, but some amazing guitar work)
Deep Purple - "Highway Star" and "Space Truckin'" from 'Made in Japan'
most anything from UFO's 'Strangers in the Night'
Judas Priest - "Victim of Changes" ('Unleashed in the East' version)
Iron Maiden - "Where Eagles Dare"
Slayer - "Angel of Death"
most of Megadeth's 'Rust in Peace' but especially "Hangar 18"
all of Morbid Angel's 'Altars of Madness' and Suffocation's 'Pierced From Within' (two of the best death metal albums ever)

or Maze of Torment. Or maybe Chapel of Ghouls.

Or actually you're right and it's the whole album.

Too bad they don't write shit like that any more. (their last album was pretty weak)

In the early 90's my wife went and stood in line with our baby daughter at a record store to get my copies of Altars... and Covenant autographed at an MA in-store appearance. lol, she said she felt a little out of place (She didn't go with me to shows back then) but the guys thought it was awesome of her to do that for me - standing in line for over an hour with all those metal-heads.. I thought so too.

at 2:30 Mr. Fripp runs his guitar through a little slap-back and proceeds to SLAP THE FUCK out of "guitar solos" for generations to come!

ps... you'll have to get past a "jazzy sax" solo... but worth it.

pps... without Fripp there would be no metal. so NYAH!!!
