.
... a fairy-tale story that I think is his best film ever (I like fairy tales).
.
.
.
"Big Fish", while occasionally and briefly sad and poignant, is ultimately happy, HAPPY and a real
celebration of life.
.
.
.
"The Seven-Year Itch" with Marilyn Monroe and Tom Ewell (a Walter Mitty-like character) filmed
ABOUT the same time as "Some Like It Hot" (and it has that iconic skirt-blowing-up scene of hers).
Neck-and-neck with "Some Like It Hot" as deserving to be in the top 5 or 10 funniest movies
ever (IMneverHO).

my wife rented that at the local VHS rental emporium and made me watch it. It had always been one of her favorite movies and she wanted to share.

It was much later that I remembered watching that and realized "oh yeah...she's 7 years older then I am..."

But yeah, funny, funny movie.

Admittedly, I haven't seen the original French version, so I don't know if it's better, but Robin Williams, Nathan Lane and Hank Azaria are brilliant in the US remake.

The Americanized version they skipped it but implied it instead. Wish it wasn't in either of them. I liked the American version better.

Loved it, especially the main theme "If it takes forever, I will wait for you". Fell asleep and missed half of the movie. I was so disappointed when I woke and realized I had missed the rest of the film. Two weeks later, another bout of insomnia, go downstairs and switch on TCM and there it is again. Almost exactly where I had fallen asleep so I got to watch the second half of the movie! A small blessing from the universe.
