dammit, car

the good car hasn't started for a few days, thought we traced the problem to the fuel pump, fuses were good and i reseated the relay, but now it won't even turn over when i try to jump it (we ran the battery down trying to get it started previously). we're going out of town tomorrow and we have a backup car, but it is primarily an in-town car and not one i'm keen on taking on longer trips.

oh well, first world problems and all that.

if you are handy and have flexible hands/arms it isn't too hard to change out a starter, but test Kali Apr 2013 #8

we have roadside through our insurance, so we'll be covered if need be.

the backup should be fine, it's just been a looooooooooooooooooooooong time since she left town.

Personally I have been saving a lot of money the last few weeks by having dead vehicles

clutch out in one, need a drive line for the other, depending on the son's 74 Comet and he is working full time (yay) so no way to get anywhere for parts or other shopping unless he is available. I'm running out of staples butthe freezer still has some meat.

SIGH when are we going to get teletransporters? I am so sick of motor vehicles.

it is *entirely* possible that i managed to not hook the cables up properly, so i'm going to ask my husband to try it when he gets home. the starter is a thought that crossed my mind, it's had cold start problems for as long as we've had it and i've been waiting for us to finally kill the damn thing.

but we tried to jump it a few days ago and the engine did crank, so it would be a new development.

dad bought us this car because what is now our backup was on the verge of being a money pit, but it is turning out to be the more reliable vehicle.

yay cars!

eta: i'm taking the backup to dad's now so he can fix the wipers before we head out, we're supposed to get weather this weekend and coming down the mountain in the snow with no wipers sounds about as much fun as sticking my face in a blender

Whenever I have car problems, I have to put in the garage for a couple of days and have to rent a car. I hope your problem is fixed soon though.

and it has saved our asses many times over the last few years. she's old, she's ugly and she's beat up, but she just keeps on rolling like a champ.
