"Does anyone know if i got baby ducks would they stay @ my creek as long as i feed them?" (Original Post) Bertha Venation Apr 2013 OP
My suggestion would be a duck pen on the edge of the creek. In_The_Wind Apr 2013 #1

2. We used to have baby ducks

When I was young my parents had a half acre on unincorporated land where they kept horses, chickens, a goat, and some ducks. We had several baby ducks born inside the house, their eggs hatching on an electric blanket. After a few days I walked them outside to the back yard and they followed me like their mother. We got them an inflatable kid’s swimming pool and they had the run of the yard. Over the years, despite the fact we never clipped their wings and they could fly, they never left that back yard, as we always kept them well fed. Sometimes we would go to the store and leave the back screen door open and slightly ajar. Every time, they could open that back door with their beaks and come back into the house which they must have thought was their original home. We would come home from the store and find a flock of hungry ducks waiting for us in the living room, getting excited and ‘helicoptering’ up and down in joy as they knew we were going to feed them goodies.

I know that was awesome.

I'm grinning like a goof just thinking about ducks helicoptering in joy.

He was one of the ducks born inside who thought I was his mama. I called him Werther, after the novel by Goethe. He was addicted to hearts of lettuce and would get very excited when he thought he was going to get some. He would lift off the floor three or four feet, flap his wings to stay up for a couple of seconds and then come back down, doing that over and over.

Ducks can be really funny and a lot of fun.

They're apparently violent little birds. Possibly chickadees. Vicious, whatever they are.

And, they sell pretty duct tape now so the baby duckies would look adorable!!!

Be sure you protect them from predators if you get them. Any number of wild animals including hawks, foxes, etc. would get them.

Also, I am not sure how old they have to be before it is okay to separate them from their mother.

I would ask some knowledgeable person about raising ducks, otherwise you will have a lot of dead ducklings.
