I don't actually *watch* t.v. It's on all the time in the background. It just increasingly grates on my nerves --the Kit Kat commercial with rhythmic lip smacking/crunching, the tablet commercial where a round table of peeps robotically slap down each tablet and pass it on to the next robot with a robot dude on top of the table dancing maniacally, the constant DANCING and SINGING competitions, the HAPPY HAPPY yak shows from daybreak, the constant ENTERTAINMENT, and "Country Western" dudes with their torn jeans and crushed hats and TWANGs, and the Everybody-is-a-Diva with interminable yodels up and down the scale, the HAPPY HAPPY audiences wildeyed and clapping.
No, I won't turn off the t.v., but frequently turn the volume down.

I have two remotes. Neither one works for that mode even with new batteries.

(70,641 posts)It's not the Dish receiver because trial and error has shown it's the t.v. (I *do* watch late night in bed, ) and sometimes catch myself not listening but READING the captioning, and sometimes there's a lag between the speaking and the captioning and I'm disregarding the hearing and waiting for the printed words.
