(8,155 posts)Seriously, I'm scared to say it because I don't want to sound like a crazy person. But she drives me crazy.

When it's love it can be obvious from the beginning.

(53,795 posts)Unless you know exactly where someone falls on an impulsiveness-versus-risk aversion scale, and perhaps have a good understanding of the particulars of the budding relationship in question, that kind of "one size fits all" advice can either reinforce self defeating behaviors or lead to some sort of tragic old western saloon style shoot out, with smashed tables and beer bottles strewn all about the floor and the piano player being rushed to the hospital.
For Gods' sakes, man, be careful.

(4,851 posts)While we geeks have monday morning QB'd this to justify Han's statement by claiming he meant he shaved distance off the Kessell Run by flying impossibly close to a black hole, it also clear that when the line was uttered, it was either 1) nonsense by Han trying to brag and he figured two bumpkins would not know what a parsec was, or 2) Lucas messed up and had Han refer to a unit of distance instead of time. I think its the later and Lucas just made a huge mistake. But I still think its funny to use "under 12 Parsecs" as a unit of time.

(37,648 posts)I know it sounds romantic to spurt it outright right away. But human nature being what it is, it can sometimes scare a person. "I love you" is pretty heavy duty.
S/he knows you have strong feelings for her, and I guess you can tell how s/he feels about you.
No harm done to wait a bit and see if the other person says it first. It won't scare YOU, since you are in fact in love.
None of the above applies if you're over 50, which I assume you're not, or you would know by now. When you're over 50, you're beyond games, and time's a wastin'. You need to know the score.
None of the above applies if you're in your teens.
And remember....it's just words. By the time you say it, the other person will already know it. You say it with your behavior.
