I can feel the warm air just looking at them. What is the top one, with the blue flowers?

Actually, the air was kind of chilly! It's late afternoon here now, and it's definitely cooling off...It was warmer earlier.

The blue flowered one is, I believe, a California Lilac. Sorry it's out of focus. It's very happy here, and has been growing like mad!

Those blue flowers are especially gorgeous! The dogwoods and azaleas are blooming here, and the trees are leafing out. Unfortunately, the pines are also spewing pollen, so everything is a yellowish green. It's just as well that it's too cool outside to open the windows. Not that it matters. Every time I walk out the front door, my cat bolts past me and proceeds to roll around on the concrete. I have to spend a minute or two dusting off the green layer before I let her back inside.

Ah, pollen. We could sure live without it, even if the plants could not!

Good and continuing luck with your cat...

Ceanothus is one of my favorite shrubs. Mine are just starting to bloom (I'm about 40 minutes north of San Fran). Is the second pic lemon? I've been spending much of my free time starting seeds inside (still dipping into the 40's at night) and working the soil outside. I hate gardening, but love flowers, herbs and vegetables, so I do it. Flowers are such a mood enhancer... they always lift my spirits!

Thank you! The second picture is my poor neglected orange bush. It needs fertilizing.

I do have a lemon too. Fresh fruit is the best!

Flowers lift my spirits too!

Azaleas are opening all over town, and our 20 foot banana shrub is just starting to open. It perfumes the whole yard for a month!

Sadly our wisteria was hit hard by a late freeze and we've apparently lost this years bloom. Guess you can't have everything....

BTW-your backyard looks like it must be a gardeners delight!

The blooming fruit trees are happening here too, and how wonderful they are...

I'm sorry about your wisteria. I'm seeing them all over my town these days...They are gorgeous!

I think my gardeners like my garden. Except they have to work in it!

... and the other day, I saw two quail (almost certainly a mated pair) cross the road. They are definitely
the clowns of the bird world here. Very comical to see them dash across the street, heads thrust forward
and looking every bit of the March Hare who's late, he's late, he's late for an important date.
.
What will be COOL is later this year when their chicks hatch. They look the same, except they have little
tiny identical versions of themselves following RIGHT in their footsteps single-file.
