I am still hiding due to the pandemic and have a fascination of watching documentaries. Any good ones to suggest?
I like scientific or historical oddities. Maybe even interesting people as well.
Link a few of your Youtube favorites
On edit: I was watching a doc. on The Halifax explosion from the early 1900's. I have never heard of this!

(7,808 posts)I have always loved science documentaries. Even as a kid, I was glued to the TV for every Jacques Cousteau special, Attenborough-style nature show, moon landing, or whatever. I have been spending a lot of time during quarantine learning new stuff. Here are a few of my favorite YouTube sites. The link is to the YouTube homepages.
SciShow: short pieces on various scientific topics, age estimate 12 and up

It's Okay to Be Smart: same as SciShow, geared to a younger audience than SciShow

Science Channel

Today I Found Out

Note: You'll find lots of oddities here. And Simon Whistler is on my list of top 5 presenters anywhere any time.
PBS Eons: Like SciShow, but geared toward an older audience

TED: Wide (and I mean wide ) range of topics in a lecture hall format
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAuUUnT6oDeKwE6v1NGQxug
RealLifeLore: Tagline: Extreme Speculation
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP5tjEmvPItGyLhmjdwP7Ww
Note: I'm undecided if this veers into wingnut or conspiracy theory, but there is one video about the Soviet plan to crush NATO that rings true today and haunts the back of my thoughts.
OverSimplified: Short history lessons

That should get you started. I hope you find something to interest you. If you get an interesting "side suggestion" from YouTube that's not on the list, let us know. I've pretty much exhausted their lists.
