Have you ever had a dream that was so real to you think it had you questioning reality?

All I can say it that it can be quite disturbing and disorienting until you’re fully awake. While in the dream state, anything can happen, even it half awake.

And I had to wake my partner up and beg to hear that they were alive.

And then I realized that everyone who has lost a child wakes up with that horror and then realizes, oh, it's true.

I never remember dreams, but that one I still remember vividly.

in it, there's this caricature of a superhero comic book villain, complete with clown makeup and everything, And he's basically running the country. He's so obviously a villain, yet the press cover him as if he's just another leader, and so many people just gobble up his every word.

And I'm running around stating the obvious, he's literally insane, he's obviously cheating and stealing and hurting and killing people and dealing with our enemies, but none of them believe me.

It's so realistic, each nightmare seems to last maybe 16 hours. When I finally wake up, it's all I can do to just stay in bed in the dark for maybe eight hours until I fall asleep and have another nightmare....

Happens in waves for me. I'll go for a year or two where I have numerous vivid dreams almost every night and then I won't have memorable dreams for a while. Some of the dreams end up happening, sometimes just like in the dream and sometimes the thing ends up sort of happening and details are skewed.

The night before the day, I had a vivid dream that I had been promoted. Now, I was fully expecting not to be promoted. I'd spend 9 years on the defense side of the military attorney aisle when almost no one spends more than 2. I had great evals but the jobs were a problem. But the dream was so vivid and felt so real that I woke up feeling amazing! When noon passed and "the call" hadn't come, I felt even better.

Then 1230 hit and the call came, and I had not been promoted.

Now, the good news is I redoubled my efforts, and got promoted the next time around. My issue was never performance, it was that I'd spent "too long" as a defense attorney for comfort, but thankfully my next promotion board had on the right folks who looked at performance instead of which jobs.

But boy that dream was so vivid and felt so real that it changed my entire outlook on the day before the rug got pulled out. Guess I'd time traveled a year ahead instead lol

7. The funny thing was that my dream was military related too

I dreamt that I had been reminded of returning to Germany to do an unaccompanied assignment for two years. Now this was a few years after having an actual accompanied long for four years at Spangdahlem.

All throughout my dream I was trying to figure out about how I could forget about the unaccompanied long that I swear that I had and when it was before I retired, but nothing added up.

The thing is that I couldn’t remember where I spent that two year tour, even though I “remembered” the place and the people I was stationed with. And I was thinking to confirm that I had a second OS long tour by checking for an OLC on my long tour ribbon.

It wasn’t until I was fully awake that I realized that my 2nd “tour” to Germany was nothing more than a dream.

peeing in a trough urinal, and it felt great to let it go.

I was pretty clearly disoriented and decidedly dismayed when I awakened in wet sheets.
