The night before doesn’t really matter (like cramming all night for a test) it’s getting rest two nights before that matters.

Alot of athletes eschew alcohol at all, during a season, or at least very little, mostly just a social beer or something. I sat through a dietitians presentation saying there's evidence of affect on athletic performance as long as 4 days. And as an aside, it wasn't clear if the affect was physical or mental. She was suggesting that people with high "mental demand" vocations consider how much they drink.

To show her how much he really loved her. About 20 years later, Gracie was with a friend and she noticed her fur coat was looking pretty motheaten. "Well, this coat is showing its age. I think it's time for George to have another affaire."

I just saw a show about Buddy Holly's plane crash. He, the Crickets, Waylon Jennings, the Big Bopper and Richy Valens (name?) were worn out driving from gig to gig in unheated, unreliable school buses; it was freezing and snowing in Iowa. Buddy found a plane, but it only had 3 seats for passengers. Buddy and Ritchy were givens, so Waylon and the Bopper tossed a coin for the last seat. The Bopper won...
Or lost.

Actually, guitarist Tommy Alsup flipped a coin with Ritchie Valens for the last seat, and Valens won.
He commented: "That's the first time I ever won anything in my life."

Waylon Jennings voluntarily gave up his seat to the Big Bopper who had the flu.

The bus was so cold & the weather so bad that Buddy Holly's drummer, Carl Bruce, was hospitalized for Frostbite to his toes.(which may have saved his life)

killing all aboard, including the Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens.

Earlier that evening, Dion DiMucci was invited to accompany the group if he could pay his share of the cost, $36.
Dion declined the offer because it was the same monthly rent his parents paid for his childhood apartment and he couldn't justify the indulgence.

William Moses Roberts Jr. was an American songwriter and musician credited with composing "Hey Joe" in 1963. First a folk song, it soon became a huge Rock and Roll standard.

Roberts gave Huey a bunch of old harmonicas and got him started in music; he was off to the races, Baby.
