19 Stunning Photos Of A Rare Black Panther Roaming In The Jungles Of India

https://www.boredpanda.com/rare-black-panther-wildlife-photography-shaaz-jung/

Wildlife filmmaker and photographer Shaaz Jung has grown up in awe of the mighty jungle and has been fascinated by black panthers ever since the first time he saw one.

This passion became an obsession and it had become Jung’s ultimate goal to shed more light on these masters of darkness.

While chasing his dream, Jung spent the last couple of years exploring the Kabini Forest in Karnataka, India, and came back with some of the most beautiful shots of the most majestic animal we have ever seen.

More info: shaazjung.com | Instagram | Facebook (h/t mymodernmet)

More photos at link. Black panthers in India are melanistic leopards. That's why this one is seen fraternizing with other leopards.

I'm confused, is it a leopard or a panther - is there a difference or just semantics?
Googling this as I post.

Except it hasn't been peppered.
Should you behold a panther crouch,
Prepare to say Ouch.
Better yet, if called by a panther,
Don't anther.

- Ogden Nash

a black panther ran across the road. I was not alone and my passenger assured me I wasn't
seeing things. They roam in the mountains of Sonora, Mexico, and the Huachucas are right on the
border. Very rare, very beautiful. Mountain lions are fairly common around here. Once in Patagonia,
a pick-up pulled up to the bar I was in, with a dead mountain lion in the bed of his truck. They are
predators of livestock and have a hunting season. (Or used to, not sure now) The lion was as long as his eight foot
bed, even extending onto the tailgate with it's legs out. I say let them have a steer now and then.
Steers are replaceable, these magnificent cats are not.
