Barkskins series tonight on National Geographic channel

Sounds like it could be good.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barkskins

Barkskins is a 2016 novel by American writer Annie Proulx. It tells the story of two immigrants to New France, René Sel and Charles Duquet, and of their descendants. It spans over 300 years and witnesses the deforestation of the New World from the arrival of Europeans into the contemporary era of global warming.

from IndieWire:
All the way through the season, there’s an anarchic spirit simmering under the surface of “Barkskins.” Where most historical fiction seems like it’s arcing toward some grand thesis statement of a fixed point in time, “Barkskins” is just as much about foreshadowing the problems of the resulting generations as it is capturing a bygone moment. It might not always lead to the tidiest, easy-to-wrangle storytelling, but it ends up reflecting its time and our current one in a way these kinds of shows are not always able.

It seemed an unlikely subject for Annie Proulx. It was a very good book, and it was nice and fat. I like fat books.

It's 8 episodes so hoping they do do it justice.

I thought it was an unlikely channel for it to be on.

Even shades of drumpf's sadism.

Missed the first 20 minutes of episode 1. Know anywhere we can catch it?

Thank you so much IcyPeas! If not for your tip, we would have missed it!

Every scene is riveting. I love the portrayal of indigenous people's is so much more complex than typical. Every character is so complex and compelling. The acting - Trapany? - is fabulous. I just close my eyes for the brutal graphic parts.

How are you liking it so far?

no! no! I don't want it to end. I am enjoying it. The only actors I am familiar with are David Thewlis (Claude Trepagny) and Marcia Gay Harden. The rest are new to me. What a character Trepagny is.

I get emails from National Geographic and one of them contained a preview of this or I wouldn't have known about it either. Annie Proulx is one of the producers too.

Here's a little video about the filming and production and set building of the show which was filmed in Quebec City. (No spoilers).
