He owned a very nice pair of Gibson L5 guitars. Beautiful instruments. He's seen playing one of them in the canoe scene in Horse Feathers, but the one that he throws into the water is an inexpensive substitute.

His fatal foul-up came when he neglected to pre-medicate with antibiotics prior to a dental appointment. Bacteria and subsequent infection went to his heart, then his entire system was overtaken by sepsis.

Darin’s death stuck in my head as I had a cousin who shared the same fate.

"He's a Rebel" was her first time singing lead on a Phil Spector recording.
She sang over a Phil Spector group's recording of the song by The Blossoms"
However, "The Crystals" were credited with it.
The "ghost" release of the song came as a complete surprise to The Crystals, who were an experienced and well-traveled girl harmony group in their own right.

I meant which member of the original band...not the band it morphed into.

By "into" I meant "doing psychedelic drugs like acid on a regular basis".

Pigpen preferred his Southern Comfort to drugs.

and other drugs on a regular basis, apart from pot.

Pigpen may have smoked a little weed, especially when they were The Warlocks, but he was never into the heavier psychedelics....He did a lot of alcohol instead, especially Southern Comfort, which he turned Janis Joplin on to.

I flew in a DHC-2 Beaver on some fly-in trips in Canada. Once the pilot needed to take a leak, in a coffee can. He let me take the yoke. The Beavers yoke could flip from left to right.
