Tell me about your Fortress of Solitude.

Working from home 9 days, sheltering in place 6, solitude 3.

My Fortress of Solitude is a 1976 double wide in an adult park sharing an eastern border with the cemetery. I would upload a picture but I do not know how and I do not have a week to clean first.

Anybody want to share their digs?

gotten mostly renovated. It’s taken over 6 years but it’s been worth it. I’m a pretty decent handy woman now. Currently working in the yard. Dang those weeds grow fast.

other than the grocery store and Home Depot I’m hanging at the house. Just not worth it and with all the Trumpsters around me, I’d just as soon not go out anyway.

on my son and daughter in law's 1.8 acre plot in the middle of the southwest Washington forest. Spent 11 days shut in, escaped yesterday for groceries. DIL will start working from home tomorrow, son works in the shop for county bus transit, for now he's an essential employee.
As of yesterday the county I live in has one case and has been holding at one for three weeks. I feel lucky

Built in 2002, we moved in in 2004.

At no time have all four bedrooms ever been used as bedrooms. The spare bedroom just a few steps from the master, I appropriated the minute we moved in, and turned it into a library; my childhood dream come true, an in-home library/office and worthy home to my, at last estimate, 3,000 books.

The bedroom at the far side of the house was originally a playroom for an expected gaggle of grandchildren. We now have ten grandkids, but the room has since been turned into a walk-in closet for Mrs. Aristus' shoes and handbags. Imelda Marcos would be green with envy.

The one remaining bedroom still serves gamely as a guest room.

I'm sitting in my library as I write this; every once in a while, I look over at the shelves bulging with books, and rejoice a little. I'm very lucky.

The house looks normal from the outside but inside it's architecturally peculiar in that the two front rooms and the dining room are set at 45-degree angles to each other. It's weird and I like it, which is a good thing because I expect to be stuck here for a very long time.

Is a HUD apartment in a little hidden spot with woods all around it. I can walk to a target and a Walmart and a few other places like PetSmart,bj's,a theatre and some fast food joints ,Starbucks and panda express. It's kind of hidden from the main roads. I'm here with my kitty Othello curled up on the couch. Getting ready to go to bed soon. Right now all is quiet the woods are dark quiet as the lights from the parking lot touch the window frame in my living room/ kitchen.my kitchen is very clean, house smells fresh..
My ceiling fan is spinning slow causing slight cool breezes to brush my arms. My rainbow lightbulb in the golden unicorn lamp is set to a deep red.Mazzy star is playing softly.
The ice maker in my fridge just dumped out some ice and my kitty sleeping on me woke up,time to get to bed soon. Faaadde into you...

I am so lucky I have this place
I moved in just when it was built like 4 years ago . My place is brand new.

I am told we can get keys to the cemetery fence gate, then the Walmart and Mall would be walk-able but I am just not into Walmart. I have Costco's 10 south or 5 miles east or 12 miles north

between major river and creek, southern MD, rental 2 bedroom 100+ year-old house (used to be farm house,) neighbors are osprey nest and landlord's 'big' house 1/6 mile away; landlord only here weekends. Grocery, Dunkin, etc. 2 miles away, and daughter, s-i-l + 2 grands 7 miles away, also on the river.

I watch the river every day, get pics of geese, ducks, eagles, and osprey now that they're here. They head to south/central America end of September, after they've trained this year's 'chicks,' 1-3; the adults return around St. Pat's day. The chicks go south too, likely stay away for 1 year, then return to the area (allegedly,) but no way to know as they're not tagged.

So now waiting a couple months to see chicks after they've hatched. Lots of pics!

I have a 1-bedroom apartment in the complex I manage. I've been on full isolation since yesterday because of some mild symptoms that might or might not be COVID. Fortunately, this is a very quiet place. The majority of residents are working from home, but a handful have been laid off and there are also a couple on home isolation with symptoms, like me.

Here in my castle, it's just four cats and me, along with my endless parade of projects. Lately, I've been making masks for tenants, friends, and family, but now will have to sterilize everything before it can leave here or have someone else do it right after.

No inside pictures because if you've seen one older 1BR apartment, you've pretty much seen them all. The grounds and neighborhood are pretty, though.

If the Dropbox links don't work for you, I'll find another way.
