Dilemma about travel

I live in Madison and my daughter lives in Denver. She is giving birth even as I am posting this. I had a cough and fever and, because of my age, I got tested for covid-19 as well as influenza A and B. All my tests came back negative. I want to drive out and help her with the housework, cooking, cleaning, etc. I am not sure if I should go.

I am figuring if I don't go now it will months before I could go. Things are supposed to get worse over at least the next month.

If you do go pack your own food, water and disinfectant wipes. Drive 8-10 hours, sleep in the car and then finish the drive. Only stop for gas and pee.

I get your desire to be there for her, but it is a necessary risk?

She is a first time mom, and I know she will be exhausted. I wish I knew what to do.

Your test for covid one day could be negative but the next day it could be positive. Do not take the chance. If you want to do something set her up with a place that will deliver meals.

To me it puts both households at additional risk. Sorry 😕. The other consideration is if you live at alone at home and there is no one at your home who needs you if you get stuck in Denver. But even if not, I wouldn’t risk introduces anything to the little one.

Good luck with whatever you decide.
