I have a few "how to start a revolution" books on my shelf, the most interesting of which come from the Einstein Foundation. One of them says all dictators stand on a 3 legged stool: one leg is the religious establishment; one is the police; and one is the military.

I think the news about the GRU paying bounties to the Taliban is going to take care of one of those two legs and that leg is usually the hardest to kick out from under a dictator. A lot of police are looking a little rocky these days, he's done his level best to make them look like a bunch of his private thugs. That leaves him with only the religious establishment, and we know part of that will support him forever, the prosperity theologians and the Family have convinced themselves that he's there by divine right. One leg is not going to be enough to support him for long.

We just have to hope nobody allows this to go too far out of the news.
