Papantonio: The War On Whistleblowers

The following interview is from the April 28th, 2013 episode of Ring of Fire on Free Speech TV (http://www.freespeech.org/ringoffire). The former Bush administration launched a war that most of the media ignored – and that was the war on whistleblowers in the administration. Unfortunately, President Obama has continued that tradition. The Obama administration has spent more time and resources going after whistleblowers than they have Wall Street criminals. Ring of Fire host Mike Papantonio talks to attorneys Howard Nations and Dave Teselle about the continued assault on government whistleblowers.

...I must point out there is a fundamental difference between what Rove did and what these whistleblowers did.

Rove outed an agent; there was no whistleblowing involved. For it to be whistleblowing, there would have to be wrongdoing to be revealed. But Rove did not reveal any wrongdoing; on the contrary, he committed wrongdoing by outing one of our deep cover agents.

On the other hand, the people spoken of in this clip did reveal wrongdoing and conflicts of interest, and they did not reveal any of our secrets to outside parties. Furthermore, what they did is protected by law. Yet they are being prosecuted for their actions.

It's even more twisted than a simple case of allowing one person to do something that another person goes to jail for. Instead, it's a case of allowing one person to break the law with impunity, while throwing another person in jail even though they have not broken the law -- because they have attempted to expose those who *have* broken the law.
