1. this will sound stupid, but

why is gold so valuable anyway?
its soft as crap, so useless for any practical application beyond electronics and jewelry..
and ive personally held in my hands things that were more 'rare' in quantity that were worth nadda....so it cant be that...

anyone wanna clue me in ?

ive never been a big horder of gold or silver (though have had a lot pass through my household.. usually being sold.. lol..)

3. Because it used to be the main currency,

so if the paper currencies ever become worthless, people might revert to using gold and silver.

How gold got to be used as currency in the first place? For one thing it doesn't rust. At least not easily.

Neither does silver. I've heard this is one reason these metals came into use as money. People didn't want to collect money that was going to rust and become worthless.

Also rulers used armies and cops to enforce control of gold mines and then issued gold as money, or issued paper backed by gold, and then they accepted this money as payment for taxes and fines, so that made it seem valuable.

4. Press TV owned by Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting

Max should search somewhere else for a platform. Where are all those Hollywood liberals? The show is interesting but some of his cohorts at Press TV are avowed anti-semites.

10. Sorry, I've mixed up his two shows

Thanks for the correction. On The Edge is on Press TV. I did a little research and climbed up the wrong tree. I do find it interesting that he would broadcast anything through Press TV, however. Everyone knows a happy ruling Mullah is a repressive ruling Mullah......
