This will not be the first Internet blackout in protest of a government bill. On January 18, 2012, more than 7,000 websites, including Wikipedia, Reddit and Google, protested SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act), which were accused of similar breaches on online privacy. Two days later, the bill was shelved indefinitely.

I think you've got the vote from 2012.

Anyhow I thought Obama was supposedly going to veto it so that's good.

Websites run on our clicks.

Go fishing on 4-22-13 and give the internet a rest.

either, on Monday. NO traffic would reduce the ad revenue a lot. That's impossible, but we've got to do something!

These vigilantes are again using an issue to post an ad for their brand, puffing themselves up and putting their brand at the center, but we know nothing about who they are. Anyone with the small requisite skills can copy their motif, including the CIA which could do it in their sleep, and have the resources to do whatever "hacking" they want. Or any right-wing group. Or anyone at all.
Even the subject header of the OP makes it about these blowhards - one has to watch the ad and wince through all the self-glorifying images to find out what it's about.

because I've personally experienced the uncomfortable feeling of being targeted by anonymous internet terrorists.

These people aren't wikileaks. wikileaks has a face. These people aren't a movement that I can evaluate as I could a normal political movement in a democracy. For example Ron Paul takes a few positions that I agree with, but I don't stand with Ron Paul because, in sum, his objectives contradict mine. I don't know whether Ron and Rand Paul would be against war conducted by private interests using mercenary armies - I just know that they're against paying taxes, including taxes to pay for war, so they're against *that kind* of war. In short, when I stand with someone or some movement I make sure my feet are on the ground.

had an internet blackout we actually made a difference. How easy is it to take that action? Hell, you could do it anonymously. Now, there's a thought, delrem. I'm not taking names, I'm playing it loose and easy...shake off your misgivings and let your freak flag fly, turn off the damned internet on Monday.

Just tell people, you are showing solidarity with mother earth. Who can argue with that on Earth Day? Seriously, Dude, I'm a DU'er, do I need credentials or is that enough for ya?

all conflicts take place? Is the ground the only way a battle should be won or can be won? Maybe feet on the ground doesn't work in all cases.
